Like many of us, I’ve been trying to find a diet that will help me lose weight, give me energy, and improve my health overall. However, I’ve tried many different diets that aren’t effective and have caused me to have a bad relationship with food. It can become overwhelming trying to set all these rules for yourself & to see little to no progress.

So, when I was given the opportunity to read an advance copy of Joel Marion’s new book, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight, I couldn’t say no. I was instantly intrigued. His book debunks all the typical diet rules that we’re used to hearing. In Always Eat After 7 PM, Joel tells us that we can still lose weight without completely restricting when we eat and what we eat.

About Always Eat After 7 pM

Always Eat After 7 PM is a three-phase program that teaches you how to lose big by strategically eating big when you are naturally hungriest—in the evening. This may sound too good to be true, but let me assure you it is no gimmick. It’s all about making strategic and smart food swaps, and you can still eat your favorite foods.”

Over the next month, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the book as well as my experience following the diet outlined within the book.  The three-phase plan consists of Phase 1: The Acceleration, Phase 2: The Main Phase, & Phase 3: The Lifestyle Phase. Phase 1 is a 14-day plan that focuses on making small changes to your eating habits to kick start the program. Phase 2 is where the real changes begin. In Phase 2 you will continue what you learned in Phase 1, but you will introduce evening meals with what’s known as “Super Carbs”. Finally, Phase 3 will help you wrap it all up to create a healthy long term lifestyle that helps you shed the pounds and keep them off.

A long term plan that helps you lose weight without restricting yourself or following a strict set of rules? I’M IN.

Debunking Diet myths

Upon reading this book, I was surprised at how invalid and unsuccessful some of the most popular dieting rules are. Prior to reading Always Eat After 7 PM, I was always under the impression that eating late=gaining weight. I also do my best to reduce carbs as much as possible, especially at night. But, Joel challenges all of these “rules” early on. Through his extensive research, we learn that the diet rules we heard and closely followed aren’t as valid or helpful as they seem.

“Late-night eating also curbs calorie intake the next day. In a four-week study, dieters added a snack to their daily regimen 90 minutes after dinner every night, and check this out: late-night eaters ate an average of 397 fewer calories per day.”

Losing weight without depriving myself is the type of long term plan I’ve been searching for. I’m eager to incorporate Joel’s advice into my lifestyle and to see the results. I’ll post an update next week, so stay tuned!

For now, you can check out Joel’s video on the science behind this diet and why it works.
