Life can get a little dull sometimes when you’re in the same routine day in and day out. But the best way to fix that is making sure you have plenty of things to look forward to throughout the year. We’ve only just entered March, so there’s still lots of things we can plan for and look forward to. Though sometimes it may feel like each year blends into the other, every year is full of unique events and possibilities. Whether you’re a parent wanting to make sure your children are entertained or you just want to have something to count down the days to, here are 7 things to look forward to in 2024.

1. Embrace the springtime by getting outside

Now that the snow is gone and it’s starting to get warmer, it’s the perfect time to spend more time outside. In the spring there are plenty of ways to get some sunshine and fresh air, you can walk some trails, have a picnic, browse your local farmers market, or take a long walk with your dog. If you have kids, take them on an Easter egg hunt and since I’m a firm believer in letting adults join in on the fun, you can even gather some friends and throw an adult Easter egg hunt. When the weather is warm and breezy, take advantage of the opportunity to get everyone out of the house and involved in something fun.

 2. Attend an eclipse viewing party

If you haven’t heard, on April 8th, 2024 there will be a total solar eclipse that will pass over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. During the solar eclipse, the moon’s shadow will completely cover the sun which creates momentary darkness in the sky. Though it’s occurring during the day, the sky will darken as if it’s dawn or dusk. This phenomenal solar event won’t occur again in the contiguous United States until August 23rd, 2044, so you might not want to miss it. Since the eclipse is such a special event, many locations are offering viewing parties at various venues. These eclipse parties can involve everything from live music, eclipse viewing glasses, food, and family activities. Wherever you decide to view the eclipse from, be sure to take safety precautions and wear solar eclipse glasses to avoid eye damage.

3. Plan a summer vacation

Summertime is just around the corner, so now is the perfect time to look at booking a stay away for you and your loved ones. Whether you plan on jetting off somewhere exotic, packing up the car for a camping weekend, or splitting an Airbnb with friends, it’s time to start planning!  Draft up a message to your group chat and decide on a date and destination. Regardless of where you go, a summer vacay is something everyone can look forward to. And if you book now, you’re likely to get a better deal too!

4. Head to the movies

2024 is a big year for some exciting movie releases. And 2024 especially seems to be all about movie sequels. We have some major sequels hitting the big screen this year such as Kung Fu Panda 4, Deadpool 3, Despicable Me 4, Twisters, Inside Out 2, BeetleJuice 2 and many more! Some of these sequels have been long awaited. Personally, I’m pumped to see Twisters! I feel like Twister was owed a sequel decades ago, but hey some things are worth the wait. With so many good movies coming out this year, you may even want to consider investing in a movie pass. 2024’s movie lineup is definitely something to eagerly anticipate.

5. Have fun in the fall

Once the fun of summer is over and done with, you can then begin to think about the cozy events that happen around fall time. One tradition for this time of year is taking the family to go pumpkin picking. Fall is also the perfect time to indulge in some delicious home cooked meals. And if you and your family love Halloween, it’s always fun to take the time to make homemade costumes and decorations. And as a horror buff myself, I love a good scary movie marathon!

6. See some Christmas lights

While it still feels like Christmas has only just passed, it will creep up on us faster than you think! Christmas is well-known for being an expensive time of the year, so if you’re looking for something to do that’s within your budget yet still magical, consider going for a Christmas light tour with Christmas on the Ranch. There’s something so beautiful about twinkling Christmas lights, and it’ll create lasting memories for your whole family.

7. Don’t forget about personal celebrations!

Finally, make sure you don’t skip out on personal celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and job promotions! It can be easy to decide to skip throwing a party for some of these events, but they’re all worth celebrating. Plus, it’s another thing to look forward to, so grasp it with both hands and enjoy every second!
