It isn’t uncommon to make New Year resolutions and abandon them shortly after the new year rolls around. Most people don’t follow through with their resolutions because they lack motivation and structure. When asked about our New Year resolutions, a good majority of us come up with our yearly goals on a whim. The days between late December to the end of January are spent thinking about how nice it would be to lose weight, to travel, to get that promotion.
But if you’re like most people, you lose track of those thoughts soon after the new year begins. The moment life gets in the way, our enthusiasm for our goals decreases. Whether we want to or not, we neglect our goals and discard our thoughts to focus on all of life’s demands.
Sadly, the moment we stop thinking about what we want to achieve is the moment our goals are forgotten until next year. But, it’s time to stop putting our life goals on the backburner and to start listening to our thoughts! Our thoughts become our actions, so we should always dedicate time to them.
If you really want to meet your goals, you should make your goals an active part of your life. One of the best ways to do this is to take up journaling. Statistics show that 42% of people are more likely to achieve their goals by writing them down regularly.
Why?! Because using a diary creates a commitment between you and your goals. Writing in a diary uses both hemispheres of your brain to develop your goals. While thinking about your goals, you use the imagination provided by your right hemisphere. But, writing down your goals ignites the logical left hemisphere of your brain that helps you realistically meet your goals. So, writing about your goals is a lot more productive than just thinking about them.
Another benefit of journaling is creating mindfulness. Journaling encourages mindfulness by challenging you to think profoundly about your deepest desires and aspirations. Mindfulness is essential in eliciting positive actions. It isn’t always easy to stay focused on what’s important. But, using a diary is a great tool that can help transform your thoughts into actions.
If you don’t want your resolutions to dissolve as quickly as you think of them, it’s time to make a change! Make yourself accountable for your thoughts and your life by using a journal that will elicit goal-planning, mindfulness, and inspiration. A journal I’d highly recommend for this is the 2017 Magical Manifesting Diary.
The 2017 Magical Manifesting Diary will encourage. enlighten, and inspire you…all while tracking your progress! This diary is eloquently written by Shannon Cox and beautifully illustrated by Natalie O’Brien. It consists of 150 pages of magical activities that will ignite a spark within you.
The diary focuses on manifesting magic in your life by discovering your inner self and altering your mindset. It begins with self-reflecting exercises that will help you uncover and connect with your greatest desires. Following self-reflection, the diary goes into activities that will keep you on track all year long. These activities are divided into weekly and monthly sections to assure that you assess your goals regularly.
The diary also includes a yearly bucket list of 52 things you would like to achieve/do/experience in 2017. Personally, I love the idea of compiling a yearly bucket list. Most bucket lists are broad and set too far into the future. But a yearly bucket list helps you narrow down your goals to goals that you can strive for NOW. And goals are always more successful when they are set in the not so distant future.
I’ve started filling out my yearly bucket list from the Magical Manifesting Diary. I’m looking forward to adding onto it as I reflect on what I want to achieve.
While keeping a diary may seem intimidating to some, this diary is far from it. The 2017 Magical Manifesting Diary is a lighthearted diary beaming of positivity and good vibes. The playful and exquisite doodles emphasize a carefree and open-minded theme.
