There are comedies, thrillers, sitcoms, dramas, and even a new late-night talk show to look forward to. 1. A Little Late with Lilly Singh
If you somehow haven’t come across Lilly Singh’s YouTube videos, you have less than 24 hours to familiarize yourself with this comedic queen. Lilly Singh aka IISuperwomanII is a popular Canadian YouTuber known for her funny and relatable Youtube skits. Lilly is shattering glass ceilings, as she will be the first female late-night host on cable network in nearly 20 years. She will also become the only woman of color on late-night television. You can catch A Little Late with Lilly Singh on September 16th at 1:35 am ET/PT on NBC.

2. Prodigal Son
Prodigal Son is a crime drama series set to premiere September 23rd 9/8c on Fox. The show revolves around criminal psychologist, Malcolm Bright who uses his skills to solve crimes and stop killers. But, Malcolm’s knowledge of serial killers is more personal than the average criminal psychologist, considering his dad used to be one. If you have a fascination with serial killers, this show is for you.
3. Emergence
Emergence is a thriller drama about a police chief named Jo who takes in a mysterious young child that she found at the site of a plane crash. The young girl has no recollection of who she is or what happened. But, Jo is determined to solve the mystery and keep the girl safe at all costs. I’ve been looking forward to this show for months after seeing the trailer on Facebook. Not only is it a unique concept, but it stars Allison Tolman (Mary Pat from Good Girls) and Donald Faison (Dr. Chris Turk from Scrubs). With a promising cast and being picked up by a new network (from NBC to ABC), here’s hoping this show lasts more than one season. Emergence airs September 24 10|9c on ABC.
4. Stumptown
Not going to lie, I’m mostly interested in watching this show just based on its stellar cast. Stumptown is a drama starring Cobie Smulders and her eye candy costars, Jake Johnson and Michael Ealy. You probably recognize Cobie from her role in How I Met Your Mother, Jake from New Girl, and Michael from Barbershop & 2 Fast 2 Furious. But, this show is more than familiar faces. Stumptown is based on the graphic novel series about a woman–Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders) who works as a private investigator. While her military experience makes her a great PI, Dex’s approach doesn’t always align with police guidelines. But, who says you have to play by the rules to get the job done? Stumptown premieres September 25th 10|9c on ABC.
5. Carol’s Second Act
Carol’s Second Act is a sitcom about a woman in her 50’s who decides to go for her dream of being a doctor. After raising her children and getting divorced, Carol (Patricia Heaton, The Middle) wants a fresh start. While her ambition is admirable, she isn’t exactly popular with the other medical interns who are half her age. Carol may have a lot to prove, but she’s already shown that it’s never too late to go after your dream. Carol’s Second Act also stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau(Baby Daddy) as Daniel Kutcher and Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) as Jenny Kinney. After the end of The Middle, I’m excited to see Patricia Heaton in another sitcom. Carol’s Second Act debuts September 26th 9:30/8:30c on CBS.
6. Evil
Evil follows psychologist Kristen Bouchard who joins forces with Catholic Priest in training, David Acosta. The two investigate unexplained mysteries of the church such as miracles and demonic possessions. While psychologist Kristin is a skeptic due to being more of a scientific thinker, she comes face to face with experiences that even science couldn’t explain. Evil is a psychological thriller that explores the divide between religion and science. Evil is set to premiere September 26th 10/9c on CBS.
7. Almost Family
While it isn’t based on a true story, the concept of Almost Family has been seen in news headlines. Almost Family is a drama about an only child who finds out her fertility doctor father used his own sperm to impregnate his patients. Almost Family follows Julia Bechley (Brittany Snow,Pitch Perfect) as she copes with this revelation and discovers two new sisters, Edie Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke,90210), and an ex-Olympic athlete, Roxy Doyle (Emily Osment, Young & Hungry). The three sisters form a bond as they navigate life and discover many other siblings along the way. Almost Family premieres October 2nd at 9/8c on Fox.
8. Kids Say The Darndest Things
Host and executive producer, Tiffany Haddish will revive the old classic, Kids Say The Darndest Things. The reboot keeps the premise of the original show where the host (Tiffany Haddish) will be chatting with kids in front of a live studio audience. The family-friendly show will air October 6th 8|7c on ABC.
9. Living With Yourself
Living With Yourself is an unusual comedy about a man (Paul Rudd) who undergoes a mysterious treatment at a strip mall spa, only to wake up to find out he’s been replaced by a better version of himself. The plot is a bit complicated to explain, so I recommend you watch the fascinating trailer for yourself. Living With Yourself will debut on October 18th on Netflix.
10. Limetown
Limetown is a fictional podcast turned web television series. This new drama follows journalist, Lia Haddock (Jessica Biel, The Sinner, 7th Heaven). Lia is a journalist for APR who is investigating the disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research facility in Tennessee. The mystery drama will air October 16th on Facebook Watch.
11. Modern Love
Modern Love is a romantic comedy series based on the weekly column from The New York Times. The show follows many lives, all of which were inspired by real-life essays seen in The New York Times. The series stars many big names such as Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, Dev Patel, & more! It will premiere on October 18th on Amazon Prime.
